Introducing the 1030 Bertie Auld Legacy Blended Scotch Whisky made in collaboration with the award-winning Jackton Distillery.

This delicious Blended Scotch Whisky, made from the finest seasonal malts and grains, is an exceptional spirit, tributing to the remarkable life and enduring legacy of Bertie Auld, affectionately known as “1030,” a nickname derived from the phonetic resemblance of “30” to Bertie.

This special Blended Scotch Whisky has been created in support of the Bertie Auld Foundation, celebrating a friendship whose story began more than forty years ago.

Bertie Auld first met RAER and Jackton Distillery founder James Kean in 1982, when Bertie was manager of Hamilton Accies and James was establishing himself in the first-team squad. What began through football would, many years later, develop into a close and lasting friendship.

James remembers Bertie not simply as one of Scottish football’s great characters, but as a mentor, a friend and someone with an extraordinary ability to bring people together. The pair shared countless “RAER Moments” over the years; stories, laughter and occasions that James and the Kean family continue to cherish.

That friendship eventually found its way to Jackton Distillery, where Bertie became part of the distillery’s own story and where the Auld and Kean families created more memories together.

This whisky continues that connection. Specially created in support of the Bertie Auld Foundation, it is a celebration of Bertie’s remarkable legacy, his friendship with James, and above all the humour, generosity and joy he brought to those around him.

A dram to Bertie – a great Celt, a great character and a great friend.

James Kean

FOUNDER OF JACKTON DISTILLERY

Having Bertie Auld as my manager during my time at Hamilton Accies truly changed the course of my life. He was a guiding light during a personal challenge I faced, and for that, I’ll always be indebted to him. Bertie had an unparalleled sense of humour; he was the most naturally funny person I’ve ever met, and I was often on the receiving end of his quick-fire wit.

I vividly remember one day at Celtic Park, where I was with John ‘Bomber’ Brown, who had played under Bertie at Hamilton. As we approached him, Bertie looked up from holding court and shouted, “You have some brass neck showing your face in here, got me the sack you did!” Everyone gasped, thinking he was directing this at Bomber, but then he added, “And how are you doing, Bomber? Great to see you!” (making it clear he had been speaking to me).

Bertie had this incredible ability to include everyone in the moment, all while sharing a laugh.

We shared countless “Raer Moments” over the years, but it was particularly special when Bertie came up with his son Robert to fill his first cask. That day celebrated the love our families have for this wonderful man, Bertie – the man, the legend. He was truly a Raer gem, and his spirit will always be cherished. His impact on our lives and the joy he brought to so many will never be forgotten.

Robert Auld

BERTIE’S SON

My Dad managed Hamilton Accies in 1982, where he first met James Kean; already established in the first-team squad.

1030 whiskyTheir paths never crossed again for many years, until they met again at a golf day at Turnberry in 2010, where they quickly bonded over legendary stories about both footballers’ careers and exploits.

This meeting was the catalyst for a strong and long friendship until my dad’s passing in November 2021…

In July of that year, Jackton Distillery and my Dad launched the “Bertie Auld ‘67” whisky, which he was extremely proud of…not just because of the accolade of having a magnificent whisky named after him, but because it guaranteed the longevity of the Auld and Kean families for many years to come.”

From the heart of Scotland, we raise a glass to Bertie Auld’s legacy, celebrating his passion, grit, and enduring influence.

Cheers to the legend, our very own 1030 BERTIE.
